On March 8th, International Women's Day, Palestinian Authority Television aired an interview with PLO Cental Committee member Amal Hamad. Lauding Palestinian women for being role models of sacrifice, Amal specifically mentioned:
Dalal Mughrabi (who particpated in The Coastal Road Massacre of 1978, which killed 38 Israeli civilians, including 13 children);
Wafa Idris, the first Palestinian female to commit a suicide bombing (January 2002); and
Reem al-Riyashi, a mother of two who commited a suicide bombing in January 2004.
